EPA Announces $80 Million for North Dakota Water Infrastructure Upgrade Projects

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted more than $80 million to support water infrastructure upgrades in North Dakota for Fiscal Year 2024.

As part of this, the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund has provided $28.6 million to the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality’s State Revolving Fund (SRF) Program, pushing total funding for the fiscal year to over $80 million. These funds will aid in enhancing drinking water and wastewater infrastructure throughout the state.

The financing comes via the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which has channelled almost $175 million to North Dakota’s SRF program in the past three years. The SRF program supports numerous water quality initiatives, including treatment facility upgrades, addressing emerging contaminants, and replacing lead service lines.

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), the Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, plays an instrumental role in these funding initiatives.
