U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg recently had a tour of infrastructure projects in Central Pennsylvania as part of the Biden-Harris Administration's Investing in America agenda. This tour was funded by the Infrastructure Law and aimed to demonstrate how these investments have been improving local communities and careers.
Secretary Buttigieg started in Lancaster with Mayor Danene Sorace, noting how the DOT’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program will enhance roadway safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.
He then visited Steelton’s historic steel mill and held a conference with Governor Josh Shapiro. Discussions focused on the importance of American-made steel in infrastructure projects nationwide.
At the mill, employees expressed how the demand for American steel, spurred by the Infrastructure Law, is driving job growth, boosting profits, and stimulating the local economy.
Finishing his tour at the Harrisburg International Airport, Secretary Buttigieg checked the progress of various improvement projects, funded by the President’s Infrastructure Package, aimed at enhancing cargo facilities and passenger experience.
