CFA Approves $87M for 224 Transportation Projects Across Pennsylvania
Significant Investment in Pennsylvania's Transport Infrastructure Announced
The Commonwealth Financing Authority is set to enhance transportation across Pennsylvania, with the approval of 223 improvement projects.
Harrisburg, PA – The Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) has revealed that the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) has sanctioned 224 projects, amounting to over $87 million in total.
Governor Josh Shapiro’s 2025-26 budget proposal outlines a strategic direction for Pennsylvania, emphasizing economic expansion, job creation, and housing initiatives.
These newly approved projects reflect the Governor's commitment to bolstering community infrastructures, enhancing transit systems, and driving economic progress throughout the state.
Secretary Rick Siger emphasized the importance of infrastructure in economic development, stating, “Ensuring that residents and visitors have safe and reliable ways to get to their workplaces or to shop on our main streets is key to Pennsylvania’s economic growth. These investments will help communities improve their transportation systems across our Commonwealth. From streetscape improvements, to installation of sidewalks and bike paths, to bridge repair — these projects will provide a safer and better quality of life for all Pennsylvanians.”

Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) – $87,015,247
The Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) is dedicated to fostering economic development by providing grants that ensure a dependable transportation network. These funds are allocated for developing and enhancing transportation facilities within existing communities, including projects focused on streetscape, lighting, and pedestrian safety. The CFA has approved 223 MTF projects, distributing more than $87 million in grants.
Highlighted MTF projects include:
- Allegheny County – $258,625 for Bethel Park Municipality to enhance the intersection of Kings School Road and Library Road
- Bucks County – $247,444 for Morrisville Borough to build ADA-compliant curb ramps
- Cambria County – $347,476 for Croyle Township Supervisors to repave Tunnel Street near the Tunnel Street 9/11 Memorial Trail
- Clearfield County – $300,000 for Grampian Borough for stormwater management and paving on 6th Street
- Erie County – $231,326 for the Enterprise Development Center to install sidewalks at Ironworks Square in Erie City
- Luzerne County – $265,572 for Jenkins Township to repair roads on Chestnut and Walnut Streets
- McKean County – $228,850 for Eldred Township to reconstruct Newell Creek Road
- Schuylkill County – $453,881 for Frailey Township to replace the Clark Street Bridge
- Wayne County – $468,204 for Lehigh Township for streetscape enhancements
- York County – $660,210 for Shrewsbury Township to improve pedestrian pathways along several roads
First Industries Fund (FIF) – $400,000
The First Industries Fund (FIF) supports Pennsylvania’s agriculture and tourism sectors through loan guarantees, facilitating land and building acquisition, and other development activities. The CFA has approved one FIF project, with a total of $400,000 allocated.
The approved FIF loan is as follows:
- Lancaster County – $400,000 to Refreshing Mountain Camp, Inc., for constructing a staff house at their retreat in Clay Township
