NUHW Strike Enters Fourth Month with Strong Picket Lines and Rally
Strike Activities Enter Fourth Month with Renewed Energy
The ongoing strike has reached its fourth month, with participants showing unwavering determination and energy. At Woodland Hills, ABC7 conducted interviews with those on the picket line early in the day. Meanwhile, in Downey, a generous local store owner provided enough wings and garlic noodles to feed all 70 people present. The spirit of solidarity was also strong at locations in San Diego and Riverside.
The previous day saw around 120 individuals gather at LAMC for a rally honoring Martin Luther King Jr. Day. During the event, attendees began crafting a commemorative quilt, each adding their own thoughts on the strike and the concept of equity. As the quilt evolves, everyone on the picket lines will have the opportunity to contribute.
Speeches at the rally included remarks from several bargaining team members. William Johnson offered spontaneous commentary on the latest bargaining update from Kaiser. The committee's efforts last week were acknowledged for successfully urging Kaiser to clarify its financial calculations, which were claimed to inaccurately suggest the strikers are asking for 19 hours a day away from patients.

Zoom Town Hall
On Sunday, a Zoom Town Hall was attended by over 400 participants. The session featured numerous questions, and speakers consistently expressed their commitment to persisting with the strike until a just contract is reached.
One participant questioned the strategic movements made during a recent negotiation session. A member of the bargaining team explained that despite Kaiser's attempts to demoralize strikers by offering minimal engagement, it is crucial to remain focused on achieving a fair agreement. This involves maintaining a strong presence on the picket lines, engaging with non-NUHW coworkers, and distributing leaflets and support stickers. UNAC-represented workers showed solidarity by wearing stickers and sharing their support on social media:
