This event aims to support Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and other Democratic candidates. Organized by UAW Regions 9 and 9A, the rally seeks to galvanize voter support for these candidates.

Shawn Fain, UAW President, expressed strong support for Kamala Harris by stating, "Kamala Harris is the candidate of the working class. She stood with us on the picket line while Donald Trump did nothing. She and President Biden bet on the American worker and brought manufacturing jobs back to the U.S. Donald Trump doubled down on NAFTA and sent our jobs to Mexico. He is a con man and a scab. He will side with the billionaires and sell out to the working class. Kamala Harris stands with us and that’s why UAW members are standing up, speaking up and showing up to elect her president."

Political Mobilization

In August, the UAW initiated a significant political campaign, aiming to engage members through online platforms and in-person outreach. By connecting with workers, retirees, and their families, the union's program is built around a pro-worker and anti-Corporate Greed agenda. With one million active and retired members, the UAW forms a crucial support base for the Harris-Walz campaign, particularly in swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

The UAW's strategy draws inspiration from the "Stand Up" strike movement of 2023. This approach emphasizes member-led initiatives to combat the influence of billionaires in politics. The "Stand Up, Speak Up, Show Up" campaign aims to rally support for worker-friendly candidates.
