New Facility Boosting Generator Production and Job Creation in Allegheny County

Support from Casey, Fetterman, and Deluzio for Energy Project

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Bob Casey and John Fetterman, alongside Congressman Chris Deluzio, secured $87,070,493 in federal funding for Mainspring Energy's new manufacturing plant in Allegheny County, promising 891 new jobs. This funding is sourced from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).

"This investment is transformative for Allegheny County. Mainspring Energy will establish high-skilled manufacturing jobs, aligning with Pennsylvania’s energy leadership,” said Senator Casey, highlighting the region's skilled workforce.

“With the Department of Energy's support, Western Pennsylvania reinforces its industrial strength, advancing toward a carbon-free future while maintaining a competitive economy,” added Senator Fetterman. "We advocated for this as it reestablishes Western Pennsylvania as a leader in innovative manufacturing."

“I’m excited that Coraopolis-based Mainspring Energy Inc. will receive over $87 million to expand low-carbon generator production, creating full-time and construction jobs,” expressed Congressman Deluzio. “This project exemplifies how producing locally can bolster jobs and onshore supply chains while meeting climate targets. I support this initiative and anticipate its impact on Pennsylvania’s 17th District.”

The funding from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grants program supports building new or retrofitting manufacturing facilities in areas affected by coal plant closures. Senators Casey, Fetterman, and Congressman Deluzio urged Secretary Jennifer Granholm to back Mainspring's project, emphasizing its role in enhancing U.S. competitiveness and creating jobs.

Mainspring Energy, with Al. Neyer, will construct a cutting-edge facility near Pittsburgh International Airport to produce 1,000 linear generators annually. These generators will power critical institutions like hospitals and data centers nationwide. The project will localize supply chains, creating 291 construction and 600 operations jobs, boosting American global competitiveness in the clean energy sector.
