Pittston Co-Packers to Open First U.S. Facility, Boost PA Economy

The revival of a shuttered facility in Pittston, Pennsylvania, is set to bring a significant economic boost to the region, promising new job opportunities and industrial growth.

In a continued effort to secure major investments, the Shapiro Administration celebrates recent successes, including a historic $20 billion deal with Amazon and the latest announcement from Pittston Co-Packers Corp.

Pittston Co-Packers Corp. to Launch U.S. Operations

Governor Josh Shapiro has revealed that Pittston Co-Packers Corp., a subsidiary of Eastroc Beverage Group Co., Ltd., will invest $30 million to establish its first U.S. beverage production operation in Pittston, Pennsylvania. This initiative is expected to create at least 226 full-time jobs in Luzerne County within three years, with the state pledging over $1 million in support.

The company has taken over the former Joriki Beverages facility, which ceased operations in January 2025. By acquiring existing contracts and equipment, Pittston Co-Packers Corp. aims to offer new employment opportunities to former Joriki workers.

State Support and Economic Development

Governor Shapiro stated, “This project is a win for workers, a win for Pittston, and a win for Pennsylvania.” The initiative aligns with the administration’s broader economic strategy, which includes a proposed $160 million investment to enhance Pennsylvania's competitiveness and job creation capabilities.

Pittston Co-Packers Corp. received a funding proposal from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) that includes a $1 million PA First grant and a $76,100 WEDnetPA grant for workforce training.

“Pittston Co-Packers Corp.’s commitment to investing in our Commonwealth and providing new job opportunities to the people of northeast Pennsylvania is exactly why we’re supporting this project,” remarked DCED Secretary Rick Siger. This effort is part of the nearly $25.2 billion in private sector investments secured by the Shapiro Administration, creating close to 11,000 jobs.

Long-term Goals and Community Impact

CEO Christopher John Reed and Co-CEO John P. Holzemer expressed enthusiasm about joining the Luzerne County community, stating, “The project aims to generate lasting economic value, support local workforce development, and foster strong community ties.”

The project was facilitated by Governor Shapiro’s BusinessPA team, which specializes in aiding businesses to flourish in Pennsylvania through customized guidance and financial support.
