National Nurses United Condemns Removal of Senator Padilla at DHS Event
National Nurses United Criticizes Senator's Removal at DHS Event
The organization National Nurses United has expressed strong disapproval of the recent forcible removal and subsequent detention of U.S. Senator Alex Padilla. The incident occurred during a press conference led by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem at a federal building in Los Angeles.
National Nurses United emphasized the importance of democratic principles, stating that a U.S. senator should be entitled to question and receive answers from a presidential administration, especially when its actions face significant public criticism.
Highlighting their advocacy role, the nurses' union remarked, “Nurses know what it’s like to stand up and strongly advocate for our patients. We applaud him for standing up for Californians, who are horrified by the miscarriage of justice taking place in immigration courts and workplace raids nationwide. We stand in solidarity and amplify his advocacy for accountability from the current administration's unjust and undemocratic immigration policies.”
National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States, boasting more than 225,000 members across the country. It includes affiliates such as the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
