WAYNE, MI – Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz met with UAW members at UAW Local 900’s union hall in Wayne, Michigan, addressing key election issues for the working class.

Local 900 represents thousands of members at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, a pivotal site in the Stand Up Strike that began on September 15, 2023. This strike prompted Ford, GM, and Stellantis to negotiate record contracts for 150,000 Big Three autoworkers.

“I am deeply honored by the UAW’s endorsement,” Vice President Kamala Harris said. “We stand for the dignity of work, justice, and equality. And we will fight for all of it.”

“Thank you for allowing us to lift up our voices,” Governor Tim Walz told UAW members. “Your work benefited all workers. I couldn’t be prouder to stand with the UAW.”

Local 900 President Dwayne Walker emphasized, “We rise and fall together. We need to be proactive and involved in this process.”

Region 1A Director Laura Dickerson said, “We wanted Vice President Harris to know we got her back. She understands UAW members want to make an honest living and support our families.”

UAW President Shawn Fain stated, “This election is a ‘which side are you on moment.’ The choice is clear.”

The UAW International Executive Board endorsed Kamala Harris last week, citing her record with the UAW and the working class.

On Wednesday, thousands of UAW members joined tens of thousands of Michiganders in welcoming the Harris-Walz ticket, building a movement for the working class.
