Amazon Teamsters Embark on Nationwide Strike for Better Working Conditions

As tensions rise between Amazon workers and the corporation, employees at the KSBD air hub in San Bernardino have joined a nationwide strike initiated by the Teamsters. This action, which began at noon on Saturday, reflects growing discontent over Amazon's refusal to negotiate a labor agreement, a move deemed illegal by the workers.

The strike is not confined to California. Teamsters are picketing at various Amazon facilities, including major hubs in New York City, Atlanta, and San Francisco, among others, signifying widespread demand for change.

"These workers have the courage to face down a giant and the conviction to demand what they’ve rightfully earned. No matter how hard Amazon tries to hold them down, our members’ spirits are strong and will never be broken," stated Sean M. O’Brien, General President of the Teamsters.

Despite Amazon's $2 trillion valuation, labor conditions and wages remain a point of contention for the nearly 10,000 unionized workers at Amazon's warehouses and delivery stations. The call for action is clear as employees demand improvements.

Ayden Huett, a KSBD worker, expressed reluctance about striking amidst holiday preparations but emphasized, “Amazon has shown time and again that they will not improve how they treat us unless we fight. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.”

KSBD, as Amazon's largest air hub on the West Coast, plays a pivotal role in the corporation's logistics. Employees assert that their contributions warrant better compensation and safer conditions. "We know how vital KSBD is to Amazon," noted Tobias Cheng, another employee, reinforcing demands for better pay and benefits.
