UAW Region 1 Reaches Historic Online Gaming Contract for Evolution Dealers

Warren, MI – After nearly two years of rigorous organization and negotiation, UAW Region 1 has successfully negotiated a tentative agreement for approximately 700 Game Presenters at Evolution, a leading online gaming platform providing services for significant clients like BetMGM, FanDuel, and DraftKings.

This development marks the establishment of the first online gaming contract in the United States.

The drive to achieve this landmark contract was spearheaded by the dedicated membership and the steadfast leadership of UAW Local 7777 President Terri Sykes, who consistently supported these workers throughout the process. This combination of solidarity and the influence of the UAW exemplified that challenging goals could indeed be accomplished.

Since 2022, the organizers from UAW and the workers at Evolution faced numerous hurdles, including legal delays and two election processes, one of which was invalidated. Despite these challenges, the workforce remained united and determined to secure their bargaining rights.

"This is history in the making," declared LaShawn English, Director of UAW Region 1. “Under the leadership of Local 7777 President Terri Sykes, we were successful in reaching this contract — the first of its kind in online gaming. These workers refused to back down. This victory sets a national precedent that will echo across this growing industry.”

The tentative agreement offers several benefits, including:

  • Significant wage increases
  • Enhanced job security
  • Improved working conditions
  • An opportunity for employees to voice concerns through collective bargaining

A vote for ratification will be arranged shortly, giving members the chance to evaluate and decide on the agreement.

Director English further stated, “This fight proves that the labor movement is expanding into new industries, and no employer — no matter how new, no matter how large — is beyond the reach of workers who demand dignity, respect, and fairness.”

UAW Region 1 continues to pave the way in securing robust contracts and safeguarding workers across multiple industries.
