Shred-It Employees Gear Up for Contract Negotiations After Joining Teamsters Local 1932
In Eastvale, California, 34 employees of Shred-It have voted to join Teamsters Local 1932. This includes Shred-It drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and warehouse workers who aim for better wages and improved benefits.
Carlos Ortiz, an 8-year Shred-It driver and member of Local 1932, stated their readiness to negotiate for regular wage increases, protection against unfair treatment, and a substantial pension plan.
Despite a petition signed by a supermajority requesting immediate recognition of their union, Shred-It insisted on an NLRB election. This led to the company's intense anti-union campaign in the weeks before the vote.
Charles Love, a Shredding Specialist at Shred-It for 13 years, expressed anticipation for the upcoming negotiations, aiming for safer routes, manageable hours, livable wages, and affordable health care.
Teamsters Local 1932 is a worker's union with over 14,000 members in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. For more information, visit the official Teamsters Local 1932 website and follow their social media @1932Teamsters.
