Bryn Mawr's Essential Utilities Announces $1 Billion Capital Improvement Program
Essential Utilities, a water, wastewater and natural gas services provider located in Bryn Mawr, has unveiled a $1 billion capital improvement program. The company will deploy $1.3 billion this year, with an estimated $1.4 billion annually scheduled through 2028.
This investment drives Essential’s mission to fortify national infrastructure via its water and gas utilities, Aqua and Peoples Natural Gas. The funding aims to upgrade infrastructure throughout Essential’s nine-state service zone, assure compliance, decrease outages and guard the environment.
CEO Christopher Franklin stated, "One of the greatest challenges facing the United States is the rehabilitation of our nation’s infrastructure. Essential has a responsibility and opportunity to proactively address this for future generations. We’re infusing capital into vital systems, fostering innovation and enhancing service reliability for our communities."
Out of the total investment, $450 million will fund PFAS research and remediation solutions.
Additionally, Essential plans to replace over 3,000 miles of Peoples’ pipelines and 130 miles of Aqua water mains within this year.
Essential Utilities delivers water, wastewater services and natural gas to about 5.5 million residents in nine states.
