A significant financial boost has been earmarked for California's water projects, as the Trump Administration commits $540 million to improve the state's water storage and conveyance systems. This historic investment aims to enhance water infrastructure across California, meeting the needs of communities, farms, and wildlife refuges.

Congressman David Valadao (CA-22) announced the allocation, stating, "After nearly a year of work, I'm proud to announce California will receive $540 million to support critical storage and conveyance projects across the state—the most significant water investment California has ever seen." Valadao emphasized the importance of these funds, which were secured through the Working Families Tax Cut, in restoring capacity and reliability in water supply systems.

Johnny Amaral, CEO of the Friant Water Authority, highlighted Valadao's commitment to his constituents, saying, "Since being elected to Congress, Congressman Valadao's top priority has been to deliver real water solutions for his constituents...the announcement made today will leave a lasting imprint on the east side of the San Joaquin Valley for generations."

Federico Barajas, Executive Director of the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority, also praised the investment, stating, "This investment marks an important step toward restoring the capacity and performance of the Delta-Mendota Canal, a critical component of the Central Valley Project." He acknowledged the leadership of Valadao and Representative Vince Fong in advancing this funding.

The Westlands Water District commended the federal commitment to infrastructure, highlighting the need to expand storage capacity for reliable water supply. The District noted, "Federal funding for the Shasta Dam enlargement is a long-overdue investment in water supply reliability, one that will help California capture, store, and move water during wet years for use during inevitable dry years."
