Missouri Logistics Workers Join Teamsters Union
In an assertive move towards improved labor conditions, drivers at CPC Logistics based in Jackson, Missouri, have unanimously voted to become members of Teamsters Local 600. This group of 49 employees is tasked with distributing cargo for Proctor & Gamble and other major companies across the Midwest.
John Kelting, President of Local 600, remarked on the workers' perseverance, stating, “CPC workers overcame a vicious anti-union campaign by uniting for better wages, benefits, and job security.” He further noted the workers' determination in securing a meaningful first contract during upcoming negotiations.
The Teamsters' presence is already established among CPC Logistics workers in other states, including California, New Jersey, Illinois, and Texas. This latest organizational success in Jackson enhances the momentum generated by recent union victories earlier this year, expanding their influence within the logistics sector.
Jeremy McDonald, serving as the shop steward for Local 600 at CPC Jackson, underscored the importance of union representation. “There are thousands of people in logistics who are doing the exact same work as us, but are better off because of their Teamsters contract,” he noted. “We deserve what Teamsters have — the best jobs in the trucking — and that’s what we’re going to get.”
Teamsters Local 600 is a prominent union representing diverse industries such as beverage, dairy, freight, and hospitality throughout Eastern Missouri. Further details can be found at teamsters600.org.
