Shapiro Administration Invests $117M in PA's Creative Economy Boost
Pennsylvania’s Entertainment Sector Flourishes with Substantial State Investment
The creative industry in Pennsylvania is experiencing a remarkable transformation, thanks to a significant financial infusion from the state government. With a new initiative, the Shapiro Administration has allocated $117 million to support 59 television and film productions, a move expected to generate over $1.11 billion in economic activity and create more than 11,700 jobs.
Under the guidance of Governor Josh Shapiro, the Pennsylvania Film Office has been instrumental in directing these funds toward both high-profile projects and independent films. The administration's focus since 2023 has been to foster economic growth by nurturing the state’s burgeoning creative economy.
Governor Shapiro stated, "We are committed to making Pennsylvania a hub for film and television production, which will not only boost our economy but also create thousands of jobs across the state." The strategic investment is part of the 2025-2026 awards, aimed at leveraging the cultural and economic potential of the entertainment sector.
This initiative underscores the state’s commitment to cultivating a vibrant creative industry, positioning Pennsylvania as a competitive player in the national film and television landscape. By attracting diverse types of productions, the state is poised to enhance its cultural footprint and economic resilience.
