UAW's Unwavering Commitment to Equity and Inclusion

United Auto Workers (UAW) maintains an unwavering commitment to promoting equity, dignity, and inclusion in all walks of life, particularly in the workplace. Collective bargaining is our most instrumental weapon against any form of discrimination. Through this method, UAW fights incessantly to protect the rights of people from all gender identities, sexual orientations, and expressions under a union contract.

We commemorate the unrecognized and unappreciated contributions of LGBTQIA+ organizers. The lack of sufficient federal protections in the workplace continuously exposes LGBTQIA+ individuals to discrimination. Moreover, state legislatures persist in enacting restrictive, discriminatory laws that limit LGBTQIA+ rights, mainly trans rights, and the liberty to join a union. Our movement resolutely opposes hate and remains a vehicle for progress, whether through courts, on the streets, or at the ballot box.

UAW Women's Department firmly stands in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community, both this month and always. We aim for a world that guarantees respect and equality for all, supporting the creation of safe, inclusive workplaces where all workers can prosper without fear of bias.

The fight is far from over, but together, we will persist in advocating for the rights and dignity of all individuals. The strength of our union is rooted in our diversity, and it is through unity that we will achieve lasting change.

In solidarity,
