National Nurses United Endorses Matt Dunlap for Maine’s Congressional Seat
Nurses' Union Endorses Matt Dunlap for Maine's 2nd Congressional District
National Nurses United (NNU), representing over 225,000 registered nurses in the United States, has declared its support for Matt Dunlap in the race for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District. Dunlap, known for his long-standing integrity, has consistently prioritized nurses and patient care, making him a preferred candidate against corporate influences.
"Matt Dunlap has spent his career fighting for the people of Maine — and that’s exactly what he’ll do in Congress,” stated Jamie Brown, RN and NNU president. “Matt won't be bought off by lobbyists or special interests. He knows the struggles of working people because that's where he came from. He was a union member himself, and he's always had labor’s back. He's been a champion for working people his whole life — nurses, union members, and everyone in between. National Nurses United is proud to endorse Matt Dunlap."
Expressing gratitude, Matt Dunlap remarked, “I am honored and humbled to earn the endorsement of National Nurses United. Nurses are on the front lines every day — caring for our communities, fighting for their patients, and standing up for what’s right. In Congress, I’ll fight alongside them for Medicare for All, safe staffing levels, a safe workplace, and fair contracts to support their families. Every Mainer knows how much nurses take care of us. We need to make sure they get taken care of too.”
NNU backs candidates who align with their principles, such as ensuring safe staffing nationwide, advocating for workers' rights to unionize, and promoting universal healthcare. According to a recent Gallup poll, nurses have been recognized as the most trusted profession in the U.S. for the 24th consecutive year. The union is eager to support Dunlap's election and collaborate with him on crucial issues affecting nurses, patients, and communities.
National Nurses United stands as the largest and fastest-growing union and professional body for registered nurses in the U.S., boasting over 225,000 members. Its affiliates include the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
