In a significant move for labor organizing within the dairy sector, more than 70 employees working as drivers and helpers at GlacierPoint, located just outside Chicago, have voted to join the ranks of Teamsters Local 703. GlacierPoint is known for its distribution of frozen and refrigerated products such as ice cream and milk, and it serves grocery stores and food service operations across the Midwest.

Thomas W. Stiede, who holds the dual roles of Secretary-Treasurer of Local 703 and President of Teamsters Joint Council 25, remarked, “This is a major win for our members and our union. GlacierPoint workers stood together and made it clear they are ready for the respect, wages, and benefits they deserve. Local 703 is proud to welcome them to the Teamsters, and we look forward to negotiating a strong first contract.”

This development marks a continued trend within the dairy industry, as employees seek to organize under the Teamsters to improve their wages, secure benefits, and ensure job stability for their families.

GlacierPoint driver Norm Fret Jr. shared his thoughts on the process, stating, “The company tried to hit us with tricks, misinformation, and threats to stop us from organizing. But we were prepared, and their efforts only showed us that we made the right decision. With our brothers and sisters behind us, we’re ready to negotiate our first contract and move forward together.”
