After two intense weeks on strike, over 250 workers at the Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) facility in Victorville, California, have approved a new contract. This victory comes after a period of intense negotiation and support from more than 700 Teamsters across California. The workers have successfully secured notable job improvements, which include access to the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust and substantial pay raises.

Chris Griswold, President of Teamsters Joint Council 42, emphasized the determination of the workers, stating, “Teamsters at Keurig Dr Pepper were ready to hold the line for as long as it took.” He added that the company's actions to infringe on workers' rights and reduce sick time were met with firm resistance. “Teamsters will never allow companies to break the law or disrespect us,” he said.

Phil Cooper, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters 896, praised the unwavering support from fellow members, noting, “The support we received across Southern California was incredible. Our Teamster brothers and sisters at all six facilities stood up without hesitation and honored our picket line.”

The strike was initiated following the rejection of KDP's initial contract proposal, which did not meet the workers' expectations for improved wages and benefits. The strike extended to include picket lines involving over 700 KDP Teamsters throughout California, effectively halting deliveries at five additional KDP locations. This marks the second successful strike for the Teamsters at KDP in just over a month, following a previous 12-day unfair labor practice strike by Teamsters Local 238 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Jeff Padellaro, Director of the Teamsters Brewery, Bakery, and Soft Drink Conference, remarked, “KDP Teamsters are showing the whole industry what happens when you mess with union members. Let this be a lesson to every other company out there: respect our members, follow the law, or prepare to face the consequences.”

With a history dating back to 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters continues to represent over 1.3 million workers across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. For more information, visit Teamster.org. Follow the Teamsters on X @Teamsters and on Facebook.
