The city of Carmel-By-The-Sea has seen a major advancement in its water infrastructure with the recent completion of an underground water main project. This development is poised to enhance the area's water service reliability, paving the way for future community needs.

Executed along Dolores Street, the initiative replaced approximately 1,000 feet of aging, four-inch cast iron pipe with a modern eight-inch PVC pipe. This upgrade aims to bolster system performance, enhance fire protection, and minimize service disruptions, thereby better serving local residents, businesses, and tourists.

David Pezzini, Senior Project Manager, emphasized the broader impact of such projects, stating, "Projects like this are about more than just pipe in the ground—they are about investing in the people and neighborhoods we serve every day." He highlighted the project's role in ensuring public health and enhancing the quality of life in the community.

Beyond the main pipe replacement, the project saw the substitution of six commercial fire services, 52 domestic service laterals, and the installation of a new fire hydrant. These improvements reflect a strategic approach to maintaining essential infrastructure that supports daily activities.

Pezzini added, "Every infrastructure improvement we complete is an investment in our community's future. This underground water pipe project helps protect service for homes and businesses today while building a stronger, more resilient system for the future."

This endeavor underscores a continued commitment to safe and reliable water infrastructure, ensuring dependable service delivery for California American Water customers.
