(LINCOLN, Ill.) – Teamsters Local 916, representing over 100 Sysco drivers and warehouse employees, has successfully negotiated a progressive four-year contract promising substantial wage hikes and improved benefits.

“Our members made it clear to management that they were ready to fight for what they deserved,” stated Justin Shaffer, a Local 916 business agent and chief negotiator, highlighting the pivotal role of unity among workers in securing the contract.

The newly ratified agreement ensures a 36 percent increase in wages, a continuation of the Teamsters' outstanding health care plan at reduced costs, and enhancements in seniority rights, vacation entitlements, and sick leave provisions.

Matt Wilham, a veteran Sysco Teamster of 17 years and Local 916 shop steward, expressed his satisfaction, “This is the strongest agreement we’ve ever negotiated, and we’re proud to work under the protections it provides.” The successful negotiation marks a clear victory for the workers who stood ready to take extensive measures to achieve fair compensation and security.

Teamsters' influence at Sysco extends nationwide, representing over 10,000 employees. Recent victories include a significant contract win by Sysco Teamsters in Kansas City following a brief strike, and more than 400 workers in Houston who secured a strong contract through the strategic threat of a strike.
