Teamsters Local 264 Members Secure Significant Pay Boost After Successful Strike
After a four-day strike, Teamsters Local 264 members at Tops Markets in Buffalo, N.Y., have approved new four-year agreements, bolstering the conditions for 550 drivers, warehouse and pharmacy workers.
Local 264, with critical backing from Local 118 and Local 449, demonstrated unity and strength, resulting in a landmark 20 percent wage boost. "Our members remained resolute on the picket line and secured this significant wage increase. I express my gratitude to members of Locals 118 and 449 for their robust support and unity," said Brian Dickman, President of Local 264.
The strike was triggered by Tops Markets' failure to propose satisfactory contracts. The outcome was a $6 wage hike over four years, preservation of union health care, and improvement of sick leave policies. Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division and Teamsters Central Region International Vice President, applauded the teamsters' resilience, leading to beneficial contracts that recognize their worth.
