Historic Tentative Agreement for UAW GM Aramark Workers

UAW GM Aramark workers have achieved a ground-breaking tentative agreement, raising the bar for all UAW GM members in sanitation.

UAW Vice President, Mike Booth, discusses the impressive gains made in this deal and the strategy behind securing it in a recent video.

The tentative deal grants Aramark workers raises of up to 43% throughout the three-year proposed deal. Additionally, the UAW has cut the time for a worker to reach the top wage rate, reducing it to just ninety days from several years.

UAW Aramark workers will also receive back pay from March 15 when the previous contract expired.

“If approved, this deal will significantly impact our UAW members in sanitation, not just at Aramark,” Booth states in the video. As the largest of the ten sanitation companies UAW bargains with, Aramark's agreement has the potential to revolutionize contracts industry-wide.

This victory at Aramark is part of UAW’s strategy to put pressure on other sanitation companies to negotiate similar contracts, improving conditions for all UAW sanitation workers.

“Our aim was to secure a substantial win at Aramark to leverage victories elsewhere for our GM sanitation members,” Booth adds.

The agreement is now up for approval by Aramark workers.

This historic agreement follows a slew of recent UAW victories, including record contracts at the Big Three automakers after a 44-day Stand-Up Strike and an overwhelming vote to join the UAW by autoworkers at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN.
