Regina Henderson Wins AFSCME's Never Quit Service Award at Rutgers

Rutgers University Employee Honored for Outstanding Dedication to Students

Regina Henderson, a dedicated utility worker at Rutgers University's Douglass Student Center, is not only known for her role at the cash register but also for her profound impact on the campus community.

Described by her colleagues as "a great person" and "a good friend," Henderson is celebrated for her leadership and genuine care for both students and co-workers. Her acts of kindness and selflessness have earned her the admiration of many.

"The care that I do and provide comes solely from the heart," Henderson shares, emphasizing her deep commitment to those around her.

Henderson’s remarkable service has been recognized with the Never Quit Service Award by AFSCME Local 888 (New Jersey Council 63). This award is given to public service workers who demonstrate extraordinary dedication to improving their communities.

Driven by a personal connection to the students she serves, Henderson explains, "What drives me every day to get out of bed and come to work is the students that come to Rutgers. They're around my children's age, and I just look for them to have enjoyment when they come here. Because I would want my children to be treated the same way I would treat any student that comes inside the student center."
