WASHINGTON—Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), commented on the recent Election Day outcomes, highlighting a strong voter preference for candidates prioritizing everyday economic concerns.

Election results across various states indicate a clear voter demand for leaders who prioritize accessible living costs over extravagant interests. In her statement, Weingarten noted that the electorate chose "decency over division" and emphasized a need for an inclusive economy benefiting more than just the affluent.

This election cycle was marked by a rejection of the current presidential administration's policies, which Weingarten described as detrimental to working-class citizens. However, she also noted that the results represent a hopeful outlook for systemic improvement in critical areas like education and healthcare.

High voter turnout reflected a widespread desire for representatives who are committed to addressing pressing issues such as education, housing, healthcare, and the rising costs of essential goods and services.
