Teamsters Strike for Fair Labor Conditions at Safran Seats

In Gainesville, Texas, members of Teamsters Local 767 have initiated an unfair labor practice strike against Safran Seats. The move comes after Safran's refusal to provide a contract devoid of mandatory overtime requirements.

"Instead of addressing Safran Teamsters’ concerns with a provision in the tentative agreement, the company has decided to play games at the bargaining table and forced us to the picket line," stated Dave Reeves, the President of Local 767. Reeves emphasized that the strike would continue until the company proposes a fair agreement without the disputed clause.

Over 350 Teamsters involved in manufacturing airplane seats for major airlines have rejected Safran's proposal due to the contentious mandatory overtime clause. Despite returning to negotiations, Local 767 made it clear that any contract mandating overtime would be unacceptable, leaving workers no choice but to strike.

Long-time employee and Safran Teamster Michelle Shero commented on the situation by saying, "We are out here striking because we want no mandatory overtime, our holiday pay back, and fair wages for all of us Teamsters — even those who have topped out." Shero emphasized the need for a robust contract that acknowledges their hard work.
