UAW President Supports Daimler Truck Workers in Contract Talks

UAW President Shawn Fain rallies with Daimler Truck workers in North Carolina on April 2, as contract negotiations for 7,000 UAW members begin. Workers demand fair wages and better working conditions. The rally will be livestreamed on the UAW's Facebook page and YouTube Channel.

The contract negotiations with Daimler Truck management start Tuesday morning and the current contract expires on April 26. Fain and UAW members are taking a stand against unfair pay and deteriorating working conditions.

The workers who construct Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks, and Thomas Built Buses face decreasing real wages and job security, despite Daimler Truck's record profits and substantial shareholder payouts. In the last six years, Daimler's profits grew by 90% while workers' purchasing power dropped 13%.

Ahead of the rally, 96% of 7,000 Daimler Truck North America employees voted to authorize a strike if necessary, demonstrating their determination to secure a fair contract.

Following UAW's historic Stand Up Strike and landmark contracts with Big Three automakers, Fain stands with Daimler workers fighting for fair pay, cost of living adjustments, job security, and a better future for working families.
