The Facts -

UAW BMW Family Begins Historic Negotiations

UAW BMW Family,

The Bargaining Committee recently initiated discussions with the Company's representatives, aiming to reach a historic no-concession contract, reversing years of limited salary increments and constant givebacks.

Chair of the Bargaining Committee, Zach Haas, outlined the ground rules for this unique bargaining approach:

• The Contract expiry is set for June 30, 2024 - No extensions will be granted.
• NO CONCESSIONS - Unlike past practices, the Committee will not accept any contract with concessions.
• OPEN BARGAINING - To maintain transparency, the committee rejects any secret deals. Instead, the Union will regularly update its members.

The Company's lead negotiator, April Vigilante, announced that the Company is breaking away from past practices of releasing the bargaining committee from work with pay while negotiations are ongoing. The Company now limits negotiation to 24 hours.

When the Committee queried this new limit, April mentioned the Company is “open to discussions".

Another issue raised by the Committee was the chosen negotiation location, an hour away from the shop. The Company's response was an open invitation for the Union to suggest an alternative.

April also stated the Company would not share information about the ongoing negotiations with the bargaining unit, a posture contrasting with the Union's transparency promise.

The Bargaining Committee, after a caucus, agreed to resume negotiations on May 14, May 15, May 21, and May 22.

“Este será un tipo diferente de negociación”. El Comité de Negociación inició recientemente pláticas con la Compañía, apuntando a un contrato histórico sin concesiones, revirtiendo años de incrementos salariales limitados y devoluciones constantes.

El Presidente del Comité de Negociación, Zach Haas, expuso las reglas básicas para este enfoque de negociación único: El contrato vence el 30 de junio de 2024 - No se otorgarán prórrogas. NO habrá CONCESIONES - A diferencia de prácticas pasadas, el Comité no aceptará ningún contrato con concesiones. NEGOCIACIÓN ABIERTA - Manteniendo la transparencia, el comité rechaza cualquier trato secreto en cambio, el Sindicato actualizará regularmente a sus miembros.
