AFSCME President Applauds Progress on Social Security Fairness Act
WASHINGTON – AFSCME President Lee Saunders released a statement following the House achieving the necessary signatures to advance a discharge petition on the Social Security Fairness Act:
“For too long, public service workers and their families have been unjustly denied the Social Security benefits they earned. Often, they have to work well into their retirement years to survive. We celebrate the progress of the Social Security Fairness Act and urge the House and Senate to quickly vote on this critical, bipartisan legislation. Our nation’s public service workers, who have spent a lifetime strengthening our communities, deserve the freedom to retire with dignity.”
