(RIALTO, Calif.) – Sixty-four Clean Earth workers have voted to join Teamsters Local 63. Clean Earth specializes in hazardous waste management.
"We joined the Teamsters because management was toying with our livelihoods," stated Raymond Reyes, Clean Earth employee. "Being in this union means no more disrespect."
Management at Clean Earth has been accused of unjust firings.
“These workers faced a four-month anti-union effort,” said Randy Cammack, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 63. “Now, we focus on securing them a fair contract.”
At facilities in San Diego, Riverside, Pamona, and Compton, Teamsters handle hazardous waste from major retailers and pharmaceuticals, preparing to negotiate a strong contract.
“Clean Earth resisted this unionization,” noted Chuck Stiles, Director of the Teamsters Solid Waste and Recycling Division, “but workers proved they belong with us.”
Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.3 million workers in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. Follow on Twitter @Teamsters and like us on Facebook.
