Washington, D.C. – September 11, 2024
Today, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) President Sean McGarvey issued the following statement:
“On this solemn anniversary, North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) joins the nation in remembering the thousands of innocent Americans including more than 60 building trades members killed during the attacks on September 11, 2001. Today, we honor the heroic efforts of first responders, building trades’ men and women, workers, and civilians who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.”
“As building trades members, we are deeply connected to the resilience that followed in the wake of that tragic day. Many of our brothers and sisters were among the first on the scene, rushing into danger to help those in need. Their bravery and sacrifice are a testament to the spirit of solidarity and service that define our unions and our nation.”
“In the years since that tragic day, our skilled tradespeople have played a vital role in the rebuilding efforts, helping restore not only physical structures but also the vitality and collective spirit of our communities. As we commemorate this day, we reaffirm our commitment to the values of unity, resilience, and excellence that guide our work every day.”
“Let us honor the memory of those lost by continuing to uplift our communities and exhibiting our building trades principles of strength, duty, compassion, and dedication. #WeRemember911”
