The Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Explored in Upcoming Teamsters History Program

As the calendar turns to January, a month that honors Martin Luther King Jr., the Teamsters union is set to delve into significant historical narratives through its latest series of educational programs. Spearheaded by the Human Rights and Diversity Commission alongside the Teamsters History Project, the upcoming event will focus on the rich tapestry of labor movements and diverse histories that have shaped the union.

This educational initiative seeks to illuminate pivotal moments in Black, Women’s, Indigenous, Hispanic, and LGBTQ+ histories, tying in their profound influence on the Teamsters and the broader labor movement. These programs are a part of a monthly series designed to foster understanding and discussion about the interconnected pasts that shape our present.

The sessions, conducted via Zoom, will span approximately 90 minutes. They are accessible to everyone interested, provided they register to secure a spot. The organizers encourage wide dissemination of this opportunity, inviting not only Teamsters but also individuals from various communities to join and engage in vibrant discussions.
