United Airlines Mechanics Negotiations Update

TL/DR -

The Teamster Bargaining Committee has reached an agreement in principle (AIP) with United Airlines Mechanics and Related Rank-and-File Negotiating Committee which they hope to convert into a tentative agreement (TA). The process has involved reviewing work groups' "Schedule A" charts, confirming payment rates, and rectifying any discrepancies. The voting process for the TA will start in a few weeks, with the conclusion expected in mid-April.

The Negotiating Committee for United Airlines Mechanics and Related Rank-and-File has outlined a tentative agreement (TA) following a review meeting at Houston's Teamsters Local 19. The goal was to transform an agreement in principle (AIP) into a viable TA.

The committee collaborated with attorney Josh McInerney and economist Kyle Schoembs to critically examine and validate the terms, compensation, and benefits of the agreement.

Detailed scrutiny of all work groups’ “Schedule A” charts led to identifying rectifiable discrepancies in basic and all-in rates. Following discussions with the company, the issues were resolved.

The committee members reiterated the terms of the agreement and collectively decided that the employer’s offer was significant enough to be put to a referendum by the membership.

A TA on extending the collective bargaining agreement is now in place. Further details, including precise wage calculations for all group members, will be available next week.

Voting on the TA will commence in the coming weeks, with the process projected to conclude by mid-April. The voting will be conducted electronically, mirroring the process used last January. The complete voting timeline will be released once the logistics are finalized by the Teamsters Airline Division.

The committee urges patience as they prepare to release the complete TA next week.
