San Francisco Parking Attendants Win Major Contract Gains
In a remarkable victory for labor rights, nearly 1,000 parking attendants in San Francisco have ratified a new four-year master contract with significant improvements. The deal, which affects a workforce spread across more than 300 off-street parking locations, marks a high point in union negotiations in the region.
The contract involves parking operators such as Reimagined Parking & IMCO, SP+, ABM Parking Services, LAZ Parking of California, Propark America, ACE Parking Management, Platinum Parking, Parking Concepts Inc., Douglas Parking, SPARK Services, Civic Parking, 555 California Garage, and Pacific Park Management.
According to Tony Delorio, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 665, “Our members have once again raised the bar for parking industry workers throughout the Bay Area. This contract rewards their hard work with significant improvements in pay, benefits, and workplace protections while ensuring these jobs remain good union jobs for years to come. Overall, our members were able to ratify the richest master parking contract in the United States, and that is something they deserve.”
Key elements of the new agreement include a 17 percent wage increase over the next four years, employer-paid health care, a 24 percent increase in pension contributions, and a 55 percent rise in 401(k) contributions. Also included are additional paid holidays, sick days, and enhanced workplace protections.
Arthur Hilmore, a parking attendant with LAZ and a veteran member of Local 665 for 25 years, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This contract gives workers like me confidence that our hard work is being recognized. The wage increases, retirement improvements, and stronger benefits will make a real difference for us and our families. Thank you to the leadership of Local 665 for making sure that we got what we’ve earned.”
