Tester Secures Infrastructure Funds for Montana's Public Services

U.S. Senator Jon Tester has secured $15,919,854 for Montana's public schools, roads, and other services, thanks to the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). Working alongside five Republicans and four Democrats, Tester was the only member of Montana's Congressional delegation to vote for the bill. Accordingly, this fund comes as a direct result of his efforts and the reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools program under the IIJA.

Lincoln County is expected to receive slightly more than $4 million from this funding. Tester said, "Our work on the bipartisan infrastructure law is continuing to deliver for rural Montana. These targeted investments will ensure access to quality public education, help maintain law enforcement officers and firefighters, and restore our roads. It's an essential aid for Montana's counties to grow small businesses, support families, and I'm excited to see its positive impact across the state."

The funding for the Secure Rural Schools program is provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service. It will be delivered to counties across Montana to support public schools, road restoration, and other county projects.

Other Beneficiary Counties

Northwest Montana counties set to benefit from this funding include Flathead, receiving $1,237,355.41; Mineral, $880,834.79; and Sanders, with $1,633,233.88.

Other significant benefits for Montana in the IIJA, secured by Tester, include $2.82 billion for roads, highways, and bridges; $2.5 billion to complete all authorized Indian water rights settlements; $1 billion for authorized rural water projects via the Bureau of Reclamation; $65 billion for broadband deployment to underserved areas, and $3.37 billion for nationwide wildfire risk reduction.
