President Biden's Infrastructure Initiatives: Addressing the Nation's Needs

President Joe Biden continues to prioritize infrastructure reform through acts like the American Rescue Plan Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. A recent press event was held by Biden Administration members, touching on present and proposed infrastructure initiatives.

Natalie Quillian, Deputy Chief of Staff for the White House, shared that 56,000 infrastructure projects have been announced under the current Administration. Moreover, improvements have begun on over 257,000 miles of roads, and around 13,000 bridge repair projects have been launched.

The problem of reckless driving on Milwaukee’s roads persists. The Administration is working on providing local authorities with the necessary tools to tackle this public health concern.

The Administration is committed to implementing the Safe Streets and Roads For All program, funded by five billion dollars. This new initiative was fought for by the Administration and is dedicated specifically to local governments. The program supports planning studies and actions to create safer routes to schools, pedestrian paths, bicycle lanes, and to slow down reckless driving.

The official also referenced President Biden’s Milwaukee visit on March 13th where he discussed a near $40,000,000 federal grant for the redevelopment of 6th Street and the National Avenue Interchange.
