Highlighting its deep-rooted commitment to bolstering U.S. manufacturing and innovation, ABB has launched the Engineered for America campaign. This initiative underscores ABB's strategy to channel investments where they have the most significant impact — within the United States. As ABB’s largest market, the U.S. accounts for approximately $10 billion in revenue by 2025, making up nearly 29 percent of the company's worldwide earnings. In response to growing demand, ABB has pledged around $500 million from 2022 to 2024 towards enhancing its U.S. manufacturing and R&D capabilities, focusing on electrification and automation technologies that promise more efficient and sustainable solutions.
Central to this initiative is a $100 million investment in ABB’s New Berlin, Wisconsin campus, a testament to the company's vision of innovation and community involvement. This investment will expand ABB's footprint in the region, extending to 2026.

Manufacturing Excellence and Innovation
“The New Berlin site is more than a manufacturing facility—it's a showcase of what's possible when innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric design come together under one roof,” remarked Tuomo Hoysniemi, President of Division Drive Products. The facility integrates a range of functions including manufacturing, engineering, and customer service, fostering an environment where collaboration flourishes to meet real-world challenges.
Hoysniemi also emphasized ABB's success in recruiting and retaining talent, positioning the facility as a regional Employer of Choice. The New Berlin campus focuses on producing variable frequency drives (VFDs) and controls, crucial for enhancing energy efficiency and performance in various sectors such as industrial operations and healthcare facilities.
The Drives Service Workshop (DSW) at New Berlin is dedicated to servicing drives with genuine ABB parts, ensuring high standards of reliability and safety.

Local Manufacturing Initiative
The innovations at New Berlin align with ABB's local-for-local manufacturing approach, catering to the Build America, Buy America (BABAA) requirements. Operational since 1988, this facility serves as a critical hub for producing ABB drives used extensively across North America.
Commitment to Sustainability
As a Mission to Zero™ site, New Berlin integrates cutting-edge technologies to minimize emissions and energy usage, underlining ABB's commitment to sustainability. Features like rooftop solar panels and digital energy management systems are part of this initiative, offering a model for global operations and assisting customers in achieving their sustainability objectives.
Empowering Communities and Workforce
With over 700 advanced jobs in sectors like engineering and operations, the New Berlin campus is a cornerstone of ABB's community engagement. Collaborative efforts with educational institutions and community organizations aim to foster STEM education and workforce readiness, showcasing ABB as a premier employer.

Having served American customers for 100 years, ABB continues to expand its influence with an extensive presence across all 50 states, comprising 40 major manufacturing sites and 10 R&D centers. For more insights into ABB's U.S. operations, visit www.abb.com/us.
