Union Leaders and Nurses Rally for Prop. 50 in San Jose on Nov. 2
Union Nurses and Labor Leaders Rally for Proposition 50 in San Jose
On Sunday, November 2, union nurses affiliated with the California Nurses Association (CNA) will join forces with members of the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council in San Jose to advocate for Proposition 50. This initiative focuses on redistricting and aims to ensure fair representation in elections.
Leading the rally, CNA President Michelle Gutierrez Vo, RN, will speak alongside prominent figures like California Federation of Labor Unions President Lorena Gonzalez, California Senate President Pro Tempore Mike McGuire, Senator Aisha Wahab, and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas. Following the rally, attendees plan to canvass local voters to raise awareness and support for Prop. 50.
CNA President Michelle Gutierrez Vo, RN, emphasized the importance of the measure, stating, “Union nurses are committed to protecting our democracy and ensuring fair representation in our elections. We need to have a level playing field in our elections, and that is what Prop. 50 will do. Elections matter. We saw what happened in July when the Republicans gutted Medicaid funding to give tax cuts for billionaires and corporations. We must protect our vulnerable patients and communities. This is why nurses support Prop. 50.”
