UAW President Joins Daimler Truck Workers in North Carolina Contract Negotiations Rallies

STATESVILLE, N.C. – UAW President Shawn Fain will join Daimler Truck workers in North Carolina on April 15 and 16 for their practice picket rallies during ongoing contract negotiations. The negotiation covers 7,000 UAW members seeking a contract that reflects Daimler Truck's record profits, including fair wages and improved working conditions. This contract expires on April 26.

Workers producing Freightliner trucks, Western Star trucks, and Thomas Built Buses face diminishing real wages and job security, despite Daimler Truck's record profits and substantial shareholder payouts. Daimler’s profits have soared by 90% in the past six years, while workers’ purchasing power has dipped by 13%.

The rally with Fain occurs in the wake of a vote by 7,000 Daimler Truck North America workers, with 96% authorizing a strike if necessary. This significant support indicates the workers' resolution to secure a fair contract.

Following UAW’s Stand Up Strike and record contracts with major automakers, Fain will support Daimler workers in their quest for fair pay, cost of living adjustments (COLA), job security, and a promising future for the working class.
