DETROIT—In a significant show of support, United Auto Workers (UAW) members in Detroit are set to join forces with UAW President Shawn Fain and mayoral candidate Rev. Solomon Kinloch. Rev. Kinloch, who is a former member of UAW Local 235, has received the union's endorsement for his commitment to advocating for working-class families and his vision for an inclusive Detroit. UAW Regions 1 and 1A, which encompass the city, are spearheading efforts to mobilize voters in favor of Kinloch's candidacy.

As Michigan's largest union, with over 350,000 active and retired members, the UAW plays a pivotal role in the state's labor landscape. In Detroit alone, more than 120,000 union members and their families are poised to significantly impact the upcoming mayoral election. Both UAW members and Kinloch’s church community are engaging in grassroots efforts, such as canvassing and phone banking, to boost voter turnout.
