AFSCME President Lee Saunders salutes the unyielding commitment, bravery, and expertise of nurses in his statement acknowledging National Nurses Week from May 6-12, 2024.
He remarked, “The indomitable spirit and skills nurses display daily in their high-pressure work environment is truly remarkable. Besides delivering healthcare, they also provide comfort during stressful periods. Their contribution is priceless.
Nurses, being front-line professionals, understand patient needs and hospital requirements better than anyone else. That's why it's crucial to give them a safe voice on their job. This allows them to advocate not only for their rights but also for a robust healthcare system. We're exceptionally proud that 60,000 nurses across the country have chosen to be members of AFSCME. We pledge our support in their ongoing battle for equitable remuneration, secure staffing levels, and improved workplace conditions."
