Rob Wheelock Beautifies Saratoga Springs, Wins Never Quit Award

The Man Behind Saratoga Springs' Blossoming Beauty

Visitors to Saratoga Springs, New York, often marvel at the city's stunning appearance, and much of this is credited to the diligent efforts of Rob Wheelock and his team. As the working supervisor for the beautification crew within the Public Works Department, Wheelock's mission is to enhance the city's aesthetics, ensuring it remains clean and inviting for all who visit.

Wheelock emphasizes the positive impact of his work, stating, “Planting flowers gives a feeling of hope for tomorrow. It just makes everyone feel better. It’s clean, it’s crisp, and it should put you in a good mood.” His dedication has not gone unnoticed, as he has been honored with the Never Quit Service Award from the Civil Service Employees Association (AFSCME/CSEA Local 1000). This accolade is reserved for public service workers who significantly contribute to the betterment of their communities.

Wheelock's passion for gardening extends beyond his professional duties. “My wife and I enjoy gardening together,” he shares. “I take a lot of pride in what we do in our own yard, and it carries over to when I go to work. In my mind, I want every flower bed to be manicured like it would be in my backyard.” His personal commitment to excellence is evident in every corner of the city he helps to maintain.
