River North Joins Teamsters Local 777

Workers at Sunnyside, Cresco Labs' subsidiary in River North, have voted to join Teamsters Local 777 with overwhelming support.
“We are excited to welcome Cresco location to Teamsters Local 777,” said Jim Glimco, President of Local 777. “Dispensary workers seeing other organized locations want to secure the benefits of a union contract. We aim to assist these workers in obtaining their first contract and to continue organizing workers in the Illinois cannabis industry.”
The River North dispensary is the sixth to organize with Local 777. Last fall, Local 777 secured strong first contracts for five other organized locations, bringing significant improvements for dispensary workers.
“Amidst the negative news, watching unions win has been uplifting. Being part of that in my own small way was amazing,” said Quinn Shaffer, a wellness advisor at Sunnyside. “It feels good to see things change for the better.”
