(WASHINGTON) – A significant shift has occurred at Pollard Banknote as nearly 200 employees, encompassing roles such as press operators and machine technicians, have opted to join Teamsters Local 337. These employees are pivotal in the production of lottery tickets used globally.

Jeremy Helton, who has dedicated a decade as a maintenance technician, shared his enthusiasm: “Before this campaign, it seemed like the enthusiasm in our plant was hanging on by a thread. But joining the Teamsters lit a fire under us, and it’s been a breath of fresh air. Being a Teamster means the world to my co-workers and me. We run this shop 24/7, and now we can work together to make sure we’re compensated fairly for it.”

The move to join the union was driven by the workers' desire for enhanced pay, superior benefits, and better working environments, all of which they believe can be achieved through a union-negotiated contract.

Local 337's President, Todd Lince, expressed his excitement about the new members: “Local 337 and I are thrilled to welcome 180 new brothers and sisters of Pollard Banknote into our union. Our organizers and organizing committee were indispensable throughout this campaign from day one until we declared victory. Now we’re ready to keep the momentum growing.”

Rocco Calo, Director of the Teamsters Industrial Trades Division, emphasized the advantages of union membership, stating, “Workers at Pollard Banknote know that workers in their industry get more as Teamsters. We look forward to continuing to grow Teamsters density and organize more graphic communications, printing, and packaging workers and getting them the strong union protections they deserve.”

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, established in 1903, represents a robust membership of 1.3 million across the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. For further details, visit Teamster.org. Stay connected with them on X at @Teamsters and on Facebook at Facebook.com/teamsters.
