(CAROL STREAM, Ill.) – In a significant move for workers' rights, employees at Graphic Packaging International have voted to join Teamsters Local 673. This adds to an increasing number of workers in the print graphics industry nationwide who are aligning with the Teamsters for enhanced representation.

Robert Gadson, a seasoned press first operator with three decades of experience, shared his thoughts on the decision: “When you join a union, you’re joining a team that will represent you in your biggest fights on the job. It’s critical to pick the right one. And that’s why my co-workers and I joined the Teamsters. With the solidarity, commitment, and strength that comes with Teamsters representation, we’re excited to finally have a real balance of power with management.”

The group of 209 workers is engaged in producing various types of packaging, including cartons, flyers, and cups, for different businesses. They have joined forces with Local 673 to push for a robust Teamsters contract that promises improved wages, benefits, and work conditions, alongside a stronger voice in workplace decisions.

Timothy Custer, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 673, expressed his satisfaction with the new arrangement, stating, “These workers fought long and hard to be Teamsters. They deserve to finally have strong union representation, and Local 673 is ready to provide that for them.” Teamsters Local 673 proudly represents thousands of workers across various industries in the Chicagoland area.
