National Nurses United Endorses Will Lawrence for Michigan's 7th District

National Nurses United Backs Will Lawrence for Michigan Congressional Seat

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States, representing over 225,000 members, has officially endorsed Will Lawrence for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. Lawrence, known for cofounding the Sunrise Movement, is recognized for his commitment to driving progressive changes.

"Nurses know hard work and dedication and believe Will Lawrence brings the progressive energy needed to flip Michigan’s 7th Congressional seat," stated NNU President Mary Turner, RN. She emphasized Lawrence's understanding of current crises and his experience as an organizer and coalition-builder. Turner noted, "Will will bring those essential skills to Congress to win Medicare for All and an economy that works for everyone, not just the billionaires. We’re ready to work with Will to improve our patients’ lives and transform our health care system."

Expressing gratitude for the endorsement, Will Lawrence remarked, "I am honored to receive the endorsement of NNU. Nurses are there for us in the hardest and most precious moments of our lives." He pledged to collaborate with NNU to make Medicare for All a reality, focusing on patient care over CEO profits and ensuring nurses can work safely and with dignity.

NNU's endorsement aligns with their commitment to candidates who share nurses’ values, such as ensuring safe patient staffing nationwide, safeguarding workers' rights to organize, and guaranteeing universal health care. A recent Gallup poll highlighted nurses as the most trusted profession in the U.S. for the 24th year in a row. NNU is eager to aid Lawrence's election efforts and collaborate on critical issues affecting nurses, patients, and communities.

National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States, with over 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
