National Nurses United Endorses Juliana Stratton for U.S. Senate in Illinois

Juliana Stratton Endorsed by Major Nurses Union in Senate Bid

National Nurses United (NNU), the largest union of registered nurses in the United States, has officially endorsed Juliana Stratton for the U.S. Senate race in Illinois. Representing over 225,000 members, the union supports Stratton's campaign, which prominently features Medicare for All and aims to combat corporate influence in politics.

"Juliana Stratton has spent her career fighting for working families and standing up for the dignity and safety of our communities. As nurses, we know that real leadership means listening, showing up, and delivering results, and that’s exactly what Juliana has done for Illinois," stated Mary Turner, RN and NNU President. She emphasized Stratton's understanding of health care as a human right and her advocacy for policies that benefit patients and frontline workers. "National Nurses United is proud to endorse Juliana Stratton for Senate because we know she will be a bold, unwavering advocate for nurses and the people we care for every single day."

Expressing gratitude for the endorsement, Juliana Stratton stated, “I’m deeply honored by National Nurses United’s endorsement. Nurses are everyday heroes – on the frontlines keeping our families healthy and thriving, too often without the pay or working conditions they deserve.” She vowed to collaborate with NNU in the Senate to ensure nurses have the necessary support to care for patients and to champion Medicare for All. "No one should have to choose between paying rent and seeing their doctor. It’s time that we have a government that will put the needs of workers and people over the interests of the health care industry."

NNU backs candidates aligned with its core values, including safe staffing in hospitals nationwide, safeguarding workers' rights to organize, and ensuring universal health care access. According to a recent Gallup poll, nurses have been named the most trusted profession in the United States for the 24th straight year. The union anticipates working alongside Stratton in Congress to address critical issues affecting registered nurses, patients, and communities.

National Nurses United is the largest and fastest-growing union and professional association of registered nurses in the United States with more than 225,000 members nationwide. NNU affiliates include California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, DC Nurses Association, Michigan Nurses Association, Minnesota Nurses Association, and New York State Nurses Association.
