According to a statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reached out to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss a range of bilateral and global issues. The statement highlighted that both leaders are satisfied with the current trajectory of Pakistan-US relations and are committed to deepening engagement across various sectors.

In particular, both nations are keen to expand their collaboration in areas such as critical minerals, digital currency, and real estate. The burgeoning partnership is further evidenced by Pakistan's recent agreements worth $500 million with two American companies. These deals focus on the development of critical minerals, including rare earth elements, and are anticipated to bolster logistics infrastructure between the two countries.

A meeting facilitated these agreements, attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and a high-level US delegation representing United States Strategic Metals and Mota-Engil. US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker emphasized the strategic significance of such partnerships, stating, “The Trump administration has made the forging of such deals a key priority given the importance of critical mineral resources to American security and prosperity. We look forward to seeing future agreements between US companies and their counterparts in the critical minerals and mining sector in Pakistan.”

The diplomatic thaw follows US President Donald Trump's successful mediation of a ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May 2025, marking a significant step toward improved relations between Islamabad and Washington. This rekindled relationship is seen as a strategic reset after years of tension, highlighted by President Trump hosting a luncheon to honor Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir.
