SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. Celebrates 15 Years of Measure A

The 2023 Measure A Annual Report commemorates the 15th anniversary of the voter-approved 0.5 cent transportation sales tax, funding diverse construction projects across Santa Barbara County.

Back in November 2008, a 79 percent majority of voters approved Measure A, making Santa Barbara County one of 25 California counties with this type of transportation sales tax.

Recently, the Santa Barbara U.S. Multimodal Corridor Project received approval for a $132.4 million funding from the California Transportation Commission through Senate Bill 1 for Cycle 3 awards in June 2023.

Marjie Kirn, Executive Director of Santa Barbara County Association of Governments, said, “This year’s report underscores our commitment to transparency and accountability in the stewardship of Measure A funds. Reflecting on 15-years since the vote for Measure A, we are optimistic about the future and confident in our ongoing collaborative work towards a more connected and sustainable community.”
